APA Basic Examiner Program

Let's get started

VCATC is your training partner for the APA-minimum Basic Polygraph Course — 400 clock hours, 10 to 17 weeks, in English and Spanish.

400 Clock hours (APA 3.3.1.1)
16 Required subject areas
80 Hours of supervised practicum
3+ Complete mock examinations

A Professional Training Academy

Built to the same standard used by APA-accredited polygraph schools

Veridian Credibility Assessment Training Center (VCATC) is a purpose-built education program for professional polygraph examiners. The Basic Course meets the American Polygraph Association Education Accreditation Committee minimum: 400 clock hours in 10 to 17 consecutive weeks, with the required subjects and hours in APA EAC Section 3.3.3.3.1.

We teach examiners — not instrument operators. Instruction combines scientific foundations, validated techniques, ethics, and field-like mock examinations. VCATC is preparing for APA EAC accreditation and does not claim to be accredited until the APA Board grants that status.

What students actually do

  • Classroom instruction in law, ethics, psychology, physiology, and techniques
  • Instrument operation labs and chart analysis
  • Question construction and pre-test / post-test interviewing
  • Supervised mock examinations under field-like conditions
  • Written and practical assessments with a 75% passing standard
